When we drew up the inaugural wish list of speakers for OFFSET I knew the first person I wanted to invite was Dave McKean. So it was a great thrill and honour when he said ‘YES’. We have uploaded the video of his presentation which is available for your enjoyment. So…enjoy.

Dave McKean has illustrated many award winning comics and books, including The Big Fat Duck Cookbook (Heston Blumenthal), What’s Welsh For Zen (John Cale), Varjak Paw (SF Said), The Savage (David Almond), Arkham Asylum (Grant Morrison), The Homecoming (Ray Bradbury), Wizard and Glass (Stephen King), The Graveyard Book, Wolves in the Walls, Coraline, Mr. Punch, Signal to Noise and Crazy Hair (all by Neil Gaiman). He also created the incredible covers for the entire award winning Sandman comic series.

Blu Sky Thinking

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Words can’t describe how amazing I think this is. The latest, and in my opinion greatest, animation so far by Blu is absolutely killer. “Big Bang Big Boom, A Short Unscientific Story about Evolution and His Consequences” is a massive undertaking and realised with a real, beautiful feel. So, grab yourself your nearest and dearest, and kick back for 10 minutes and take it all in.

One of my favourite creative/music labels Ed Banger have got together with Etnies to produce The Ed Banger Seven, 7 small films following the Banger crew on a recent trip to the USA. The first one went up yesterday and is looking good, can’t wait to see the rest.

Johnny Kelly - YouTube Play

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

LOVE IT! Johnny Kelly does it again!

This trailer was commissioned by YouTube to publicise an event they are organising in partnership with the Guggenheim. Any non-commercial video from the last two years is eligible to be included in the YouTube Play exhibition at the New York Guggenheim museum held in October 2010.

The brief was to allude to the eclectic and diverse content you expect to see each time you press play on YouTube. A series of worlds were created from the ground up, with production designer Graham Staughton and his team created everything in the video by hand, including a (nearly) full size cave.
