With a capacity of only 80 people this promises to be a great chance to get up close and personal with some of our leading lights. Full schedule in the next week.

Brad Downey has just finished a fascinating mural at ARTotale. Speaking to him this morning, he said that he was worried that people would react badly to it, but most of the students seem to like it. He was commissioned to do a mural but didn’t tell the university what he was going to paint. With so many street artist reworking brand logos to say contrary things to the brands identity, Brad as just painted a big McD’s logo.
Here’s a quote from a great interview over at Ekosystem “The university students understood my work very well. I was very worried that the painting would be misunderstood by the students and my fellow artists. The University is undergoing a process of “Rebranding”. To my understanding, Leuphana has recently paid a large sum of money to design a new logo, name, and concept for the whole Universiy. Part of an effort to raise student fees. One student explained to me that it has been referred to internally as an Americanization of the old German school. And many of the students are unhappy about this. Some have made their own films addressing this same issue. Our ARTtotale, street art project, seems to be a part of this re-branding.”
Brad will be speaking at OFFSET in Dublin, 6th-8th November
